Four Boeing Suppliers Receive U.S. Small Business Administration Awards
News Release 

Ehmke Manufacturing Company Inc. , has gone above and beyond in the manufacture and service of acoustical blankets for CH-47 Chinook helicopters and V-22 Osprey tiltrotors. A Boeing supplier for three years, Ehmke excels in its customer-oriented support, including short-notice pick-up and delivery service and overnight repair and replacement. Ehmke has also provided shipside support at several out-of-state locations by sending personnel, hardware and products and helping Boeing meet goals and schedules. The 85-employee company has provided time-critical support in the repair of products other than its own. Ehmke holds a composite supplier rating of Silver for Boeing. An elite company in its own field, Ehmke received Award of Excellence - the highest award in the industry - for design and fabrication from the Industrial Fabrics Association International in 2000 and 2001.

GMAIR (formerly American Aviation Parts Inc.) has been providing Boeing with top-flight service on some of its highest profile aircraft programs for more than three years. Owned since 1994 by Gus Mola, a native of Colombia, South America, GMAIR supports such Boeing military transport programs as Air Force One, C-32, C-40, E4-B Advanced Airborne Command Post and KC-135. In addition to repairing and refurbishing parts, GMAIR serves as a parts administrator and supplier, and has consistently exceeded contractual requirements in standard flow times and critically short schedules for aircraft parts and assemblies. The nine-employee company holds a Gold supplier performance rating despite its varied workload that includes hydraulics, pneumatics, flight controls, landing gear, brakes, wheels, interiors, electronics and avionics. GMAIR, which has a perfect quality acceptance rating with no late deliveries, has grown from $100,000 in sales in 1994 to a projected $4 million in 2002.

Region VI

Trajen Inc. provides fueling and defueling services for KC-10, KC-135 and C-17 aircraft at the Boeing Aerospace Support Center at Kelly USA (formerly Kelly Air Force Base), Texas. Trajen has responded time and again to contingencies surrounding ongoing military action following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Trajen"s impeccable service has enabled Boeing to maintain a ready fleet of KC-10 and KC-135 tankers and C-17 cargo aircraft for the U.S. Air Force. In addition, Trajen provides liquid oxygen for the C-17 and lavatory services for the KC-10 and C-17. Trajen is focused on continuous improvement and has recently made large investments in its facilities and refueling fleet, leading to a 50 percent reduction in time required to defuel and refuel aircraft. The 10-year-old, 300-employee company began doing business with Boeing at Kelly USA two years ago, following a business relationship at McClellan Air Force Base, Calif., four years ago.

FINE Laboratories Inc. is recognized for the superiority of the products it manufactures and the service it provides. FINE won the Administrator"s Award for Excellence from the U.S. Small Business Administration in 2000, and the company recently received ISO 9002 and AS9100 certification."
